First Look: USF CU’s ‘Totally Different’ Winter Park Branch
With opening day just around the corner, the USF Credit Union Winter Park branch is quickly transforming from vision to reality. And while our earlier renderings offered a glimpse of what’s to come, today, we’re sharing a first real look at the progress, the people, and the purpose behind the space.
A Different Kind of Branch Experience
From the moment you walk in, this won’t feel like a traditional bank - and that’s by design.
“It’s going to be cozy, very welcoming, a positive energy and great feeling,” says Branch Manager Miguel M., who brings over 24 years of banking experience to the future branch. “It’s going to be totally different than all the branches here in Winter Park - there’s no teller line. As soon as you come in, you’re going to be greeted with quality service and seated at our stations.”
This intentional shift away from teller lines creates a more personal, relaxed experience - one where conversations happen face-to-face, not across a counter.
And yes, you’ll be able to stay awhile.
“We have couches, there’s a lounge area - we even have a state-of-the-art coffee machine for our members so they can relax and enjoy the experience,” Miguel says.
Built for the Winter Park Community
Long before the doors open, the Winter Park team has already been making connections.
“We’ve canvassed the neighborhood - we’ve visited 53 businesses, introduced ourselves, and let them know that USF Credit Union is coming to town,” Miguel shares.
Those conversations have already revealed something special about the area.
“A great city, great neighbors, hardworking families and individuals. A very warm, welcoming base - a lot of amazing shops and boutiques. Just great people in general.”
They’ve even met familiar faces along the way.
“We did have quite a few people ask, ‘Are you from USF the university?’ And I said yes - but we’re a separate entity. We’re a credit union, here to serve. We also met a few alumni that were part of the USF community here.”
Designed to Feel Different
From layout to décor, every detail of the Winter Park branch is intentional.
“The décor that we have is very unique,” Miguel says. “The layout is different than anything out there.”
It’s all part of a larger vision - to create a space that reflects both innovation and belonging.
“We’re here to have a positive impact in the community and be part of the community. We’re grateful for this opportunity, and the best experience is going to be the quality service we provide to our members.”
Meet the Team Ready to Serve
Behind the space is a team just as dynamic as the design.
“Oh man, we’ve got an amazing team,” Miguel says. “They’re excited, ready to go, ready to rock.”
He highlights team members like Brandon, who brings leadership experience in the credit union industry, and Raquel, who grew within USF CU and is eager to serve members in her new role.
“They’ve seen the process from beginning to now, and they’re super excited. They can’t wait to be in their seats and ready to serve.”
A Leader Rooted in Service
For Miguel, this role is about more than opening a branch - it’s about building relationships.
“My experience and what I bring to the table is being out in the forefront of the community - very engaged, a lot of volunteering, just helping families thrive.”
That mindset reflects the culture he’s proud to be part of.
“You lead with service - you’re here to serve our members, serve the community, and lead your team by putting others first.”
Counting Down to Opening Day
As opening day in April approaches, there’s a mix of excitement and anticipation.
“There’s always a little bit of jitters,” Miguel admits. “But honestly, we’re very confident. We have a great team, a great support system- we’re going to be ready to open the doors and ready to serve. We’re all about service.”
And when those doors open, the impact will go beyond banking.
“I think we’re going to have a positive impact in members’ lives- financially, personally - just that warm, welcoming feeling. They’re going to come in and leave knowing they’ve been very well taken care of.”
Winter Park, We’re Ready
For Miguel and the team, there’s no better place to bring this vision to life.
“Winter Park is the best location to have a branch, and we’re excited to be here. This is amazing, amazing, amazing - and we’re going to do great things.”
The countdown is on.
