"If they want to be techie, we can be techie," Universal Service Representative Nettie M. says. "If they want to be old school and use the phone system, they can do that too. They just know we're going to meet their needs."

That philosophy starts with listening.

"I just listen to the members," Nettie says. "When there's a pause, I'll ask, 'What are your thoughts?' Sometimes people aren't comfortable talking about what they don't know. If I can make them feel more welcomed, they feel more relaxed."

And that's exactly the atmosphere Branch Manager Caterina has worked to build.

"We talk to each other. We make it personal. Building relationships with the team was important because that carries over to our members."

That family atmosphere is something members feel the moment they walk through the door.

"We have amazing members that come in here," Caterina says. "I've gotten to meet so many incredible people, and my team knows our members so well."

Meet the Sarasota Team

It's a team where everyone brings something unique.

"I'm working with a bunch of veterans," Caterina says. "They make it easy for me to come to work every day. Nettie has been our top credit card producer for years and is incredible with Google reviews. Jean knows everybody by name. Tonia has built wonderful relationships within the Spanish-speaking community. Alfred has a passion for financial literacy. The five of us come together and make a really great team."

Personalized Service That Goes the Extra Mile

Sometimes, putting members first means staying long after the doors are supposed to close.

Nettie remembers a member who came in with her fiancé just before their wedding.

"They were leaving for Savannah the next day," she recalls. "She wanted to add her soon-to-be husband to her account. They apologized because they were late—it was already 4:30. We stayed until six, got everything finished, and he became a member too. They left for Savannah the next day knowing everything was taken care of."

That's what personalized service looks like.

"We give the community a face behind the voice," Nettie says. "If you have questions or concerns, call me. I'm just a phone call away."

Even in today's digital world, that human connection still matters.

"In our high-tech world of 24-hour banking, there comes a moment where you don't want to talk to someone over the phone," Nettie says. "You want to look someone in the eye and feel like you're going to be taken care of. That's what we do here."

Proud to Serve Sarasota

For Caterina, serving Sarasota is especially meaningful because it's home.

"I love Sarasota," she says. "I grew up here."

She's watched the community grow since moving to Sarasota in 1982.

"It's beautiful. We're just minutes from the beach. Everybody's laid back, and it's a wonderful community. We love being part of Sarasota and serving our neighbors."

That spirit reflects the credit union philosophy they live every day.

"People helping people - that's what we're about," Caterina says.

It's the kind of service members don't forget.

"We have members who come in and bring us gifts," Caterina says with a smile.

For Nettie, the greatest reward is seeing kindness spread beyond the branch.

"I like to pay it forward," she says. "If I'm taking care of you, treating you like family, making you feel welcomed and appreciated, hopefully you'll pay that forward to someone else."
