game to get fit?

Our “Game to Get Fit?” series keeps rolling - and this time, we’re leveling up your financial defense.

With Cybersecurity Awareness Month in full swing, there’s no better moment to strengthen your digital safety and our experts agree - USF Credit Union’s Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) is the simplest, most reliable way to protect what you’ve worked so hard to earn.

What is 2FA?

2FA stands for Two-Factor Authentication, also called Multi-Factor Authentication or MFA. It’s a fancy way of saying you’ll need more than one step to prove it’s really you when logging in or moving money.

At USF CU, we offer a few ways to verify your identity, but our favorite (and most secure) option is using a two-factor authenticator app. It’s quick, easy, and adds an extra layer of protection to your account.

Why It’s a Game-Changer

  • Extra Security, Less Worry: Your 2FA App will generate a unique new code every 30-60 seconds.
  • Perfect for Travel: 2FA App option is available when SMS or phone calls may not be.
  • Quick and Easy: 2FA Apps are always available on your smart phone.

Our USF CU experts say two-factor authentication (2FA) is one of the easiest ways to keep your account safe and secure. They also recommend setting up account alerts for an extra layer of protection. As one expert puts it, “It’s such a simple step, but alerts are often overlooked — and they’re your first line of defense.” A few quick clicks can make a big difference in keeping your money and information protected.

Three Easy Steps to Set Up 2FA App Verification Method at USF CU

Getting set up with 2FA App is simple—and it only takes a few moments to help secure your account. Here’s how to do it:

1. Log In to Digital Banking

Sign in to your USF CU online banking via a web browser and head to your Security Settings to get started.

2. Enroll in 2FA App

Choose and download your preferred authenticator app, such as Google Authenticator, Authy, or Duo Mobile. Select the 2FA App to enable and select Enroll. Scan the QR code with the authenticator app and follow the on-screen prompts to finish setup.

3. Confirm and Activate

Once connected, enter the code generated into the blank field and select Next. Check the box if you want to use the 2FA App as your preferred method for verification and you are all set.

With a 2FA app enabled, you’ve got an easy, secure way to verify your identity and keep the bad guys out. For even more protection, set up Card and Account Alerts so you’ll know the moment any transactions happen.
